Bug Description

Binary package hint: firestarter

The installer asked me to report this at the time... it's taken me a day or two. Sorry.
The main effect is while running Add/Remove or Synaptic. Here's the sort of message I get in a popup:

An error occured

The following details are provided:
E: firestarter: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 200

And here's what I get when I run Firestarter in a terminal:

A proper configuration for Firestarter was not found. If you are running Firestarter from the directory you built it in, run 'make install-data-local' to install a configuration, or simply 'make install' to install the whole program.

Firestarter will now close.

I'm also going to (hopefully) attach the pertinent files from /var/log/dist-upgrade/ right here:

file:///var/log/dist-upgrade/apt.log

file:///var/log/dist-upgrade/main.log

file:///var/log/dist-upgrade/term.log

Since I'm uncertain that drag-n-drop works here, I'll include what I think are the important lines. From main.log:

2006-11-30 22:15:30,824 ERROR got an error from dpkg for pkg: 'firestarter': 'subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 200
'
2006-11-30 22:22:20,174 WARNING no activity on terminal for 240 seconds (Configuring firestarter)

2006-11-30 22:32:11,406 ERROR SystemError from cache.commit(): installArchives() failed

And from term.log:

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have almost the same problem. I installed it once correctly, but while I was trying to configure it properly, the program started to fail. Then I removed it and next time I have tryed to install it I get the same error...

dpkg:error processing firestarter (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 200

I'm using Ubuntu Dapper 6.06

Thanks in advance...

I have solved the problem. In my case I uninstalled completly the program from the repository, but I had to uninstall it completly that means to delete all the files related with firestarter. Then I reinstalled it from the repositories and it worked. Then I just set the parameters and now is running without problems

See you guys!!
