Bug Description

Binary package hint: brasero

Dear Sirs/Ladies,

I wanted to write some more data content on a DVD on which I had formerly written 1.4 GB and knew that I had chosen the option enabling new data can be added to it. When I started to write the new data (2.2 GB), Brasero asked me what I wanted to do; do i want to make the old data on the disk visible or let it get hidden. I chose the option to make the old data visible. However, after the process I only see new data, none of the old.

One thing that may have something to do with this is that at the end or before the end(?) of the writing session the program asked me to remove the DVD manually. I did that: Tried to open the drive and close it again but the program wouldn't notice it, even if I removed the DVD disk completely and closed the drive.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Oneiric Ocelot. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your help.

Thank you, Pedro. I tried the daily CD image of Oneiric, downloaded on
2011-08-28, from CD. Unfortunately, it could get graphics started, so I
couldn't run Brasero. Then I tried the Xubuntu distro of Natty Narwhal
that I already have installed.

I wrote 818.6 MiB on a DVD using Brasero but when I tried to add
something more to it, Brasero didn't give any choice of adding more data
to it -- either I did something differently or the feature has been
removed from that latter version of Brasero...?

Download full text (3.3 KiB)

Correction: I could _not_ get graphics started with the Oneiric
snapshot, so I couldn't run Brasero.
