Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity

Windows maximize below Unity Launcher that covers part of them again. The Launcher does not receive mouse clicks as the window below receives them. This behavior makes Launcher quite useless.

Just happened again. This time during a session. I have the launcher set to be always visible. When I started, the windows were fine, maximizin themselves alongside the launchpad. During the session the windows began to maximize themselves under launchpad, clicking the icons on launchpad passes the click to the window underneeth.
The only thing I did in meantime was watch movies in fullscreen in totem and mplayer. Could be possibly related.

Just happened again. When I start the session the windows maximize correctly alongside the launcher. Then all of a sudden they start to maximize under the launcher.

I started only the following programs: Skype, GoogleChrome, Empathy, Goldendict and Tucan.

Do now exactly what causes this but it definitelly should be fixed!!

Houw could I help? What information do You need I can provide?

I juset found out that the launcher does not receive mouse clicks even on a clean page with no windows. It cannot be used to swith between windows. I can switch using Meta4 and number keys, but not by clicking on icons.

I just experienced the same thing, not sure what triggered it... my session had been running for hours with quite a few full screen windows. I also have autohide set to never.

I just found that if you toggle the autohide setting in ccsm it corrects itself.

I just witnessed it happen without any visual sign of something triggering it. I was reading an email in evolution, which was full screen. Without touching anything the window slide under the launcher.

This is happening often, and is new behaviour. So I assume it was introduced in unity 3.6.6-0ubuntu1 or maybe compiz 0.9.4-0ubuntu7 last week.

I can confirm the same behavior. Moving the mouse cursor to the top left corner and clicking seems to bring it back though. It is possible some "hiding behavior" remains even though it's set not to hide.

It happens right now. I had the Launcher set to never hide. After some time
Gedit maximized under (while typing), I opened ccsm set launcher to autohide
and to never hide again. Ccsm resized correctly. I switched back to Gedit
(on another workspace) and it changed its size under the launcher again. I
went back to ccsm, switch to autohide, and then neverhide again. Ccsm OK,
switch to Gedit, went under launcher again.

I cannot log out and in now, to try to reproduce it, but maybe someone can
to try to reproduce.

My guess is that something has gone wrong in the autohide code so that when set to "never hide" it is only visually present but it is still tells the window manager it's hiding. (Basically all the clickable areas move off screen but the visuals remain.)

I believe I'm also suffering from this bug, or a similar bug.
When I maximize a window it is shown below the launcher panel. I tried to change autohide in ccsm, and it only helped after restarting compiz, but when I logout and login again, the problem persists. I didn't have problems with mouse clocks though.

Hi,

Looking into the issue I found out that my video card was blacklisted, and so I was running unity in metacity, and not in compiz. That's why using compiz solved the issue. The bug seem to be with the 2d version of unity.
