Bug Description

Binary package hint: dmraid

/dev/sdd: pdc, "pdc_dhhaajacgb-1", stripe, ok, 1758766336 sectors, data@ 0
/dev/sdc: pdc, "pdc_dhhaajacgb-1", stripe, ok, 1758766336 sectors, data@ 0
/dev/sdb: pdc, "pdc_dhhaajacgb-0", stripe, ok, 1758766336 sectors, data@ 0
/dev/sda: pdc, "pdc_dhhaajacgb-0", stripe, ok, 1758766336 sectors, data@ 0

During the install of Ubuntu 10.10 with Raid 10 configured in the bios it gets to the partitioning menu. First it asks me if I wish to activate the Raid device. The next screen where I would normally configure where to mount the normal partitions doesn't have any disks. I was asked to run the dmraid command outputting the above information. I have successfully installed ubuntu with the same hardware except using raid 0.

Hello! Please attach the generated files in dmraid.pdc/, preferably after taring them with tar czf dmraid.pdc.tar.gz dmraid.pdc.

I'm sorry, I needed to get this server running so I've configured some kind
of Raid at least for the / mount using LVM in the setup so I no longer have
the Raid setup in the bios. If there is any hardware information you need to
know I will let you know but I don't think I'm going to be able to take the
server down again for a while. I will do what I can to help, as I am unable
to get Grub to install under the software Raid.

Actually I'm going to have to take the server down one more time so I should
be able to get this for you. It probably won't be until tomorrow.

Fantastic. With those files I can emulate your raid array and debug the problem.

Before I attempt this to save a headache later, where is the dmraid.pdc directory going to be located? Is it in the root?

Do you need the fake raid enabled when I do this? I now have this server in
production with soft raid enabled and can not re enable fake raid due to
possible loss of data.

No, you can do it now, I'm just trying to verify the exact size of your disks.
