Managing a mobile device from a music player always sounded like a stupid idea to me - why the hell should I install/use an apple music player to manage a phone? Maybe it's better to split sync into a separate app.

I'm interested in hearing others opinions on this. I too am not convinced the best approach is to handle syncing in an app.

I think that instead of syncing music in BeatBox, contacts in Dexter, Videos from another app, etc., we should have one app to sync everything and anything.

This would, of course, require a central communication between all apps such as LibraryKit.

I would have thought that a device sync in Switchboard would be the best - Beatbox should handle the actual syncing of the files in the background, since it manages the library - but the UI and settings should be a plug in Switchboard :)

samtate: actually, BeatBox shouldn't care about maintaining yet-another-library - library management should be done once and for all apps. https://blueprints.launchpad.net/elementaryos/+spec/librarykit
