syncing portable devices by playlist

Ideally I'd like a quicker, easier way to sync music with a portable device than drag & drop of folders/files.

I'd love to see drag & drop of playlists to the device. Media relating to that playlist (and also the playlist file itself) would be synced to the device.

The same should work in the opposite direction - I'd like Beatbox to recognise playlists/files that are not on the system being synced with and upload both playlist and music files.

I don't think it is a "duplicate" as such.

My point was that using playlists to control what was synced (sunken / sunked?) would be handy.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/726743 states that any sort of syncing with a mobile device is "make or break" but it's not defined how this should be done in any detail.
