second monitor displays random flickering

Bug Description
Graphics card is using Intel driver and is reported by Intel driver as Intel Arrandale. Second monitor is Dell U2410 (successfully detected by xorg and noted in /var/log/
Problem does NOT occur if I boot with the kernel from package linux-image-
Problem DOES occur if I boot with the kernel from package linux-image-
Problem DOES occur if I boot with the "mainline" kernel from linux-image-
Problem occurs whether or not I am running a window manager.
Problem occurs with both the xorg package versions from maverick and from natty.

sorry, the first two attachments named "grep kernel /var/log/syslog" are from my entire syslog, over many boots, and with a bunch of usb devices attacked, including an unused displaylink device. attachment #5 is only the current boot, with many of the usb devices (including the displaylink) not attached (problem still occurs)
