Bug Description

My Starling is about two months old and has always had a problem with wifi. It can sense wifi and appears to be connected, but drops a strong signal after a few minutes. I know the signal is strong because I can access it from other laptops, but the Starling is about to become my only one, so I hope we can fix it!
The system model is star4 and I'm not exactly sure what version I'm running.

I have the same problem with my Starling NetBook that I bought 2 weeks ago.
Every 20 minutes, the wifi seems not connected, even when the wifi icon show connected with
high signal, but I cant open any web site, or using skype or pidgin. I try doing ping to a server but
i don't get response. Quick Solution: Reconnect the wifi network.

I'm emailing a guy from System 76. I'll let you know if he tells me anything that solves it. I almost feel like it's a hardware problem; maybe yours and mine just have bad wifi receptors?

I am having a similar issue with a new(Spring '11) Lemur. I seems like a memory leak? I works for a few minutes and then goes out. Then it will appear to be connected, but won't resolve an address from dhcp. I have to restart the whole system to get it back.

Thanks :) My Starling was stolen a little after I posted the comment, but I will save this in case I have trouble with my future Starling!

Any progress on this issue? I have a star5 running 11.04 and the wifi drops several times per hour.

Can the people having this issue please attach the following from a terminal:
lsb_release -a
uname -r

and from logs:
dmesg > dmesg.log (attach the dmesg to the report)
lspci -vvnn > lspci.log (attach the lspci to the report)

This will help get people more information about what's going on.

Added requested logs.

The router is an apple airport extreme. No other wifi devices are having this issue.

I see JC Hulce's answer ... that the problem only occurs on his Airport.

Can the rest of you confirm whether the problem occurs on one particular router or multiple routers?

Actually, I have had this issue when using other hotspots (at hotels, etc). What I was trying to say was that no other device ever connected to the Airport has ever had issues
