Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

When using compiz either with unity running, or on the classic Ubuntu desktop, I do not hear the name of the focused window when switching between windows when using Orca. In addition, I don't see anything under accerciser that suggests that unity-window-decorator has placed any window titles into the accessible hierarchy, either when in accerciser proper, or whilst the window switcher is on screen when switching between windows.

The issue is that we don't change the active window anymore when
actually doing the switcher preview, which explains why there is no
text either. There isn't any way to fix this without breaking ABI I
think.

Based on Sam's comments, re: it breaks ABI, this is unlikely to get fixed in time for Natty. Have added a task to track it Oneiric, and updated state/importance to reflect current state in Natty at this time.

Answer to David: Although based on previous comments, it will really unlikely that this change will be ready for Natty, I will try to take a look to this issue, so it could be solved on the future release

There is a workaround for that.

1. apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager
2/ Launch ccsm, for the "decor plugin": Command: /usr/bin/compiz-decorator -> replace to /usr/bin/gtk-window-decorator to This one should be compatible with orca.

As there is a workaround, dowgrading the natty bug task to medium. (we loose though the "easy window resize"

So we can fix this in the compiz switcher plugin as that was a small oversight with the change to the alt-tab ordering fix, however I'm not sure about the level of atk support in nux and the unity switcher, so if this branch:

https://code.launchpad.net/~compiz-team/compiz-core/compiz-core.fix_724093/+merge/74811

is merged then I'll close the compiz bug and we'll keep the unity bug open.
