Hi,
Try to delete the folder hidden and check all your dependencies ( http://openshotusers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=758) we have added some other.
Thanks.

Hum if you have all the dependencies installed and delete this folder by a : rm .openshot, we must have more informations for resolving your problem. Could you launch it in a console typing openshot & and put the result here. Without more informations, it is a bit weird for us.
Thanks.

Are you on KDE and Do you use the QTCurve-GTK theme ?

Ah okay. I see better with the screenshot. Effectively, you are on KDE and you are using the GTK2-engine-qtcurve.
At first look (see here : http://openshotusers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=751&p=3696&hilit=rm+gtkrc#p3696), there is a problem with this theme.
And you see that the solution is to remove a hidden folder. After, (but it is not confirm) you should change your theme. IT is to try one time with and after without. And I don't know if you change just the motor-engine before, resolve simply this issue.
So, anyway, you type this in a terminal :
rm .gtkrc-2.0*
and your problem will be resolve.
Thanks.

Changed in openshot:

This looks to be an issue with a theme on KDE, and nothing that needs to be fixed in OpenShot.

This one touchs a lot of people and also Marverick.

The bug is with OpenShot.

OpenShot does not start because of Problem X, it means that OpenShot should do its best to resolve Problem X.

It does not matter that the fault is in gtkrecentmanager.c. OpenShot should be able to adapt. It is likely there is a check you can do just before calling get_icon_fallback and avoid that call, if it is not completely necessary.

Otherwise, you have potentially a great number of people who cannot use the software. Think about it from the perspective of an end-user, such as me.

1. Install OpenShot using PPA.
2. Run OpenShot (works fine).
3. Start editing a video.
4. Save the video (OpenShot crashes; shows that it saved the recovery file).
5. Start OpenShot.
6. OpenShot crashes.

Since OpenShot started the first time, it aught to start the second time. This is a bug with OpenShot.

Hi Thangalin,
I don't understand one thing. This bug is only on Kubuntu and Marverick. We have none other reports about this one on the others systems/distributions and same on the previous version (aka Kubuntu Lucid/Mint). And personally, I have a KDE mint Isadora with none problem with.
It is the reason why we have marked this bug invalid.
