Bug Description

when you import audio or record a track, you should be able to set that track to repeat over and over until the end of all the rest of the audio. This would be useful for prerecorded/original loops and other similar applications.

I think something more flexible and more intuitive within the current design is to loop by stretch, in the sense that... A user would import an audio clip and then if you stretch a complete audio clip, it would seamlessly paste another clip for the length of the stretch. If you wanted something to loop 24 times, you'd stretch an audio clip 24 times its length (markers could be in place to note where a new loop begins)

You have something like this in Sony Acid.

I don't really like this idea. When you stretch audio you expect it to
stretch, not loop.

On the other hand, when would you ever want to stretch out some audio?
Making it repeat inside the stretched area seems quite sensible to me.
Feel free to crush me with many examples of when stretching a piece of
audio is something you'd want to do. :)

I agree. I can think of a couple times where I'd want to stretch a clip
out and get the pitch/speed modulation associated with that, however
most times this idea seems to fit nicely. In my mind, it also seems a
bit more intuitive if you only want to loop a track for a few times (as
opposed to say setting a loop toggle button, with some sort of way to
specify the number of times to loop). Anyways, that's just my 2 cents

I agree that left-clicking and stretching a loop should make it repeat, not timestretch. A timestretch feature would be nice too (with optional "leave pitch alone"), but the intutive behaviour when stretching it to repeat the audio.

I disagree. Stretching is used very often in sound processing, e.g. to make a drum pattern fit a certain tempo or slow something down for practice purposes.
For me it also seems more intuitive that stretching means time stretch. How does stretching an element translate to copying it?
If you just want to loop a couple of times, a simple copy and paste operation seems to be most reasonable, and probably what most users would think of anyways the first time they would try such an operation. For a longer loop, it makes sense to have a button or something that lets an Event get looped ad infinitum, as the OP says.

I think stretching is important and should be implemented. It's very useful when you want to synchronize two sounds or two loops.

Concerning the repeat function, I've tried to repeat a drum loop pattern.
But when using copy/paste to duplicate the loop, only the first loop plays when the 2nd loop begin corresponds to 1st end (see:
this image ).
It works fine only if a time gap is left between the two loops...

I'm new here,
should I report this bug in a new post ?
