Bug Description
Binary package hint: php-mode
I have the latest edgy.
Regardless of what's in my .emacs file, after installing php-mode package, emacs comes up in "C Abbrev" mode for .php files.

This happens for me as well. I tracked down the problem to the file /etc/emacs/ site-start. d/50php- mode.el
I have attached a patch. ( I think, I am new at sending these to others.
