Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

When i start firefox or adobe reader to read some file or URL, the Xorg process usage goes as high as 100 % and the scrolling makes the screen to flicker. The /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old shows the stack trace. glxinfo command also does not work.

output of glxinfo from command line is as follows:
ankit@ankit-laptop:~$ glxinfo
name of display: :0.0
X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 155 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 19 (X_GLXQueryServerString)
Serial number of failed request: 15
Current serial number in output stream: 15

Hi Robert,

Can you make the 713643 as the parent and the other as the child. The reason
is because the first one contains lot more information about the bug.

I have a similar--possibly the same--problem, worst with Firefox but also with other programs: Thunderbird, Rhythmbox, Chromium, Update-Manager. Whenever I open a new tab, do a task, or anything (scrolling just so happens to be a good way to trigger it as well) the CPU usage of the program and xorg (and any other processes connected to what I am doing) shoot way up above what they are normally at. This problem just started in the last half week, so I am inclined to believe that it is a regression from a recent update. If you think it might be the same bug I can post more information.
