I am a novice with Ubuntu, but I cannot get sound.
Rhythmbox Music Player(Paused).
Real Player 10 won't play either, even though it is up to date.

install VLC also you are using quite an old version of Ubuntu.

If you can't play sounds with both players, that doesn't seem a rhythmbox problem.

Please follow the sound troubleshooting [1] and reply this issue with the anwers of the questions that you will find there.

Found the problem and turned on the speakers.

I now like Ubuntu a lot better. I was ready to buy a Mac.

Just another question, can I run some antivirus software to eliminate any possible viruses?
