Bug Description

I would like to request a SRU for the package vsftp to fix this update/install bug.

IMPACT: If vsftp is to be installed on a system where the user "ftp" already exists, but the group "ftp" doesn't, the user is unable to succesfully continue with the installation.

FIX: In later releases of the package, the conditional in the postinst was corrected to address this issue. A minimal patch is attached.

REPRODUCE: on a clean install, add the ftp user and try installing this software.

REGRESSION-POTENTIAL: There is little chance for a regression as the only thing that is changed is the postinst script.

I rejected them both. Please reupload a merged version. Thanks!

Hi,

I'm marking this bug as duplicate of bug #629234. The reasons behind this decision is because this bug was reported when there still was an Open Bug dealing with this issue. Other than that, the fix proposed here is not the same fix as the one in the natty package.

Cheers,
