OpenDocument .odt file conversion is very buggy (esp. with headlines)

Bug #704810 reported by viktor

abiword (Ubuntu)
Confirmed

Bug Description

Binary package hint: abiword

Saving as .odt seems to work, but OpenOffice will say document is corrupted.
Fixing, as suggested through OOo, the buggy xml works only if formatting was simple (no preset headlines...). Otherwise OOo fails to open, even a corrupted version of the original file.

Opening back the document with Abiword: errors appears. Document is lost after the first preset headline.
Without preset headlines the odt saving behavior is very erratic with formatting.

Using Lucid (64bit) with Abiword 2.8.2 (and I thought it was too risky to look for a more recent version in some ppa...).

Changed in abiword (Ubuntu):

Can't try 2.8.6 since there are no builds available for Lucid.

I'm pretty sure it will not be backported and the ppa has been on hold for about a year.

And BTW bug #591503 is only about failure to open odt documents, not about dataloss.
