Bug Description

Binary package hint: totem

I tried to playback http://sl.sufism.mtoit.biz/live-webcast/liveplayer.aspx?l=en with VLC or Movie Player.
I can do this live stream (Sundays from 8 to 9:30 am) in windows.

Movie Player says: The playback of this movie requires a text/html decoder plugin which is not installed.
I can't find the plugin.

VLC does nothing.

that might have something to do with the fact that the page requires
silverlight

If you open the webpage in chromium, does it give you the option to install silverlight/mono?

http://mto.org/webcast/ appears to be the main page to load the webcast from, the live stream is encrypted with DRM and requires windows only software.

If anyone can shed any more light on this I am interested.

Thank you IKT and Omer Akram,
For Silverlight, I downloaded moonlight and MonoDevelop.
I am going to download Chrome 32 bit for debian/ubuntu.

It looks like Google Chrome and moonlight plugin for Olympics works. I'll check the video stream on Sunday.

Heya,

There's one other thing we can try, if you are in firefox are you able to install the moonlight-plugin-mozilla and give the site another go :)

hi,
I am running ubuntu 11.04 64bit. Nvidia driver 275.19
I am experiencing similar crashes with the vlc multimedia plugin version 1.1.9 on this site > http://nos.nl/nieuws/live/journaal24/wmv/ and others where the mediaplayer is required to play streams
If I disable the vlc plugin in firefox "nightly" add-on/plugin page the site works fine. I think it's using the compatible totem plugin version 2.32.0 to run the mediaplayer. I have shockwave flash version 11.0 d1 installed. This issue with the vlc plugin started on my PC on sunday july 17 2011. I am also running linux-mint 64bit, same issue and fix.
I can install moonlight plugin 64bit in firefox nightly (8.0a1) but codecs install fails because I don't have permission (permission denied)
Thanks,
Jacob
