Bug Description

Binary package hint: alsa-base

Combined headphone/mic jack does not work out of the box. Plugging in headphones does not mute the speakers, and no sound is played in the headphones.

These two steps fixed the problem for me:

1) Appending
  options snd-hda-intel model=ideapad
to
  /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

2) Unmuting the microphone in "KMix->Capture Device->Mute/Unmute Internal Audio Analog Stereo"

Everything but internal microphone workd now (which didn't work before the fix either).

josef,
there was a patch to enable jack sense on your machine in Maverick's 2.6.35-25.44 kernel - can you test if this is still an issue after updating the kernel?
