Quirk needed for ThinkPad Edge 13"

The jack sense for the Thinkpad Edge 13 (84ET20WW (1.04)) is not working in 10.10. Whenever headphones are plugged in, the audio will still play from only the speakers. I built a deb with Manoj's fix in https://lkml.org/lkml/2010/11/18/605 , but that didn't work, and I realized it was a different device code than the one his quirk addresses. I added `options snd-hda-intel model=ideapad` to the modprobe configuration and sure enough that fixes the issue.

Hmm that is bad, the ID is already part of the quirk list in Maverick. If jack sense does not work we have different problem here... can you please attach the output of the following script ?

Looks like that is the patch that you want. Sorry should have checked which patch you tested in the 1st attempt...

Try to do further:
sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
And add this string: "options snd-hda-intel model=ideapad"
It works perfect on my ThinkPad edge 11.

Manoj's patch was released for Maverick with 2.6.35-25.44 - can you confirm that the model parameter is no longer needed on your system?

I haven't had any luck with headphones myself. Sometimes they work, then they don't. Must boot into Windows 7 to be sure Skype will work. Bug(s) around for years .. Ubuntu & Mint. Why can't Linux do sound right? NUTS. inxi -F output:
