Bug Description

Kubuntu 10.10, installed Openshot from Ubuntu repositories, version 1.2.2-1

Starts normally.
1) import a video clip
2) open the save dialog & type the required information there
3) Press 'save project'

-> Openshot crashes. This is the stdout

rhk@ribantu:/tmp$ openshot
--------------------------------
   OpenShot (version 1.2.2)
--------------------------------
Process no longer exists: 16102. Creating new pid lock file.

Now when I try to start it, it crashes without me having to do anything:

rhk@ribantu:/tmp$ openshot
--------------------------------
   OpenShot (version 1.2.2)

Process no longer exists: 16130. Creating new pid lock file.

But when I remove the saved .osp file, it starts normally again.

openshot.debug attached.

Try to remove the file pid.lock int the folder .openshot and it it is always the same; remove this folder .It will be re-create automaticaly at the next start.
And normally, this will be resolved.

Thanks cenwen - but that's a bad workaround:

 - removing .openshot doesn't solve the initial problem that OS crashes always when I save the file
 - removing .openshot doesn't solve the initial problem that OS crashes always when I try to restart it after it's crashed (and I've removed the .openshot folder)

The crashing only stops when I remove the .osp file. And then crashes again when I try to save something..

This appears to be a common problem in Kubuntu, affecting many applications:

I suffer the same problem: openshot crashed while trying to save a new project and I'm now unable to run it anymore.

hi,
This problem seems to provide of the GTK-engine-QTcurve only on Marverick and the solution is explained here : http://openshotusers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=751&p=3696&hilit=rm+gtkrc#p3696
Good luck.

It only happens to me when selecting the predefined folders in the folder drop-menu. When selecting "other folder" then going to the correct folder (even if it is the same as the previous drop-menu) then save or export everything works just fine.
