KDE / Kubuntu does not respond for keyboard

Bug Description

I'm using Kubuntu 6.10. I do not really know what special did I do.

I can login to KDE (with password - keyboard, of course). After logging in, the system does not respond for any key. Mouse and other devices work fine. There is no valuable information in system log / dmesg.

After I log out, the login screen works fine.

I can confirm this, saw this in 2 different PCs. Keyboard just stops working, I have no idea why, but deleting ~/.kde solves the problem. Is there any config file I might upload for you devs to see what's the problem?

Did either/both of you have amarok set to startup at boot? Amarok occasionally crashes and prevents keyboard input for me.

I always have Amarok to start up when loading the KDE session. I never experienced this bug with the new versions of Amarok. Should we close this one? Anyone experienced this with the new versions?

At me amarok was not running when the keyboard locked.

I have marked bug #121818 as a duplicate (on 7.04).

Also, I see others have reported similar problem (other distro) on:

Its the "slow keys" feature of KDE, also reported in Bug #41427. Get rid of it by disabling it (accessibility/keyboard filters).

Is this still an issue in Intrepid?

Not a duplicate, bug 41427 is for Gnome, this is for KDE. (I don't see a reason to track both in the same report. Keeping this report open for KDE would probably be cleaner, less non-relevant discussion to skim through.)

Is this still an issue in Intrepid? I don't think slow keys are enabled by default.

Looks like this is no problem in Intrepid. A warning message will appear before sticky keys is first activated. The feature can be disabled in that message, or in System Settings --> Accessibility --> Modifier Keys.
