Bug Description

Binary package hint: samba

the desktop is running on lucid the net-book is running on meerkat both computers were capable of viewing and transferring files between one another without issues until sometime last week. no major changes have been made other than the usual updates. At some point I may consider attaching a bug report from the other computer to this one but I don't have regular access to it. When this is done I may also redo the samba shares. the net book is running 10:10 gnome as the desktop is running an offshoot called net-runner. sometimes i have 0 folders listed in WORKGROUP folder otherwise I receive a cannot receive windows shares message. PS there are also three other not regularly connected computers each running on windows 7 and XP which were able to connect to the mentioned net-book and desktop but as of yet I have not reconnected these computers and am not concerned about them being connected to the network at any-time.

Thank you for your report.

Can you tell what is the samba-shares that should be available? In your uploaded smb.conf there's no extra shares configured.

Are you trying to access samba shares in somewhere else? What is the server where do you want to connect? Can you upload smb.conf from that server.

We need more information to find out if this is a bug or not. Can you tell us what is the machine of which samba-shares you are trying to access from your computer? You have attached several smb.conf-files, but none of them includes any shares that should be even available.

So are you trying to use shares from Windows-machine or other samba-server?

the netbook was the one having problems running smb:// its running on
upgraded from lucin meerat 10:10 however some updates received on
january 5th resolved the issue for the netbook so i am able to read
smb:// files coming from the desktop in the netbook now however soon
after these updates the netbook has started to experiance problems
with its touchpad which is why it took me so long to reply this time
around.

thanks for your time and effort
