Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

I'm not sure if this actually belongs to nautilus, feel free to change the package.

Steps to reproduce:

1) Start computer
2) Choose Ubuntu Classic Desktop
3) Login

What you expected to happen:

The classis desktop is shown with two panels.

What happened instead:

Only the wallpaper is shown, the panels are not there. Sometimes,
a notification that the wireless network is connected appears.

This happens every time I login. I can then go to a terminal (with Ctr-Alt-F1),
restart gdm and login again. This time, it works

I believe its more of a compiz bug. could you create a launcher on the desktop which should have the command 'metacity --replace' and run it and see if that brings back the panels

I tried it, nothing happened.

Is there any log that could help you?

you can start a terminal(ctrl+alt+t) and start gnome-panel from there to get
going.

I tried to do this, but there was an error message that there is already a panel running:

Cannot register the panel shell: There is already one running.

So I tried to kill it, with killall gnome-panel and then, the panel appeared.

Thanks for reporting this, however I was unable to reproduce it using the latest Natty with updates. If you are able to reproduce this again, please mark the bug as "New" again.
