Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

The F5 key should give the same response in Impress as the menu item "Slide Show > Slide Show" but With a one slide presentation I get a black screen with F5 and slide 1 with "Slide Show > Slide Show". I expected the first slide to show.

Still happens with Natty, the behaviour seems to be random when pressing f5 with a one-slide slideshow... sometimes black screen appears, sometimes slide1 (the latter happens mostly after clicking Slide show->Slideshow, preassing Esc and pressing f5)

Gregor Shapiro, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:
apport-collect 694281
When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Could you please attach a Impress file that demonstrates this problem? Does LibreOffice Impress work for you?

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y upgrade && sudo apt-get -y install libreoffice-impress

In LibreOffice 3.3 on Ubuntu 10.10 the bug does NOT occur.

However, if the controls are to be more similar to MS PoeerPoint - and it
does seem that often the attempt is made to mimic the Microsoft product, the
command [F5] should start the presentation at the first slide (from the
beginning) and the command Shift + [F5] should start the presentation at the
slide currently being edited. As it is in LibreOffice (and has been in
OpenOffice.org) the [F5] command starts the presentation at the current
slide.
Do you still want a presentation that demonstrates the reported bug (in OOo
on Ubuntu 10.04)? I imagine that there might not be too much effort put into
correcting such a minor thing...
