Problems with buffer-type tracing

Bug Description

When an IMAP process is exited due to errors, the buffer-type often continues to be set to process, which gives a tracing error error the next time an IMAP operation is invoked. (Buffer-type is being switched from 'process to 'folder.) The tracing error message is "folder buffer being entered from process".

The problem is that vm-imap-check-connection throws exceptions, but these are not always caught. Needs cleaning up.

An instance of this problem here:

Visit an IMAP folder from a VM session 'A'. Visit the same IMAP folder from another VM session 'B' and make changes to it. If you come back to the session 'A' and do vm-imap-synchronize then you get the "folder buffer being entered from process" error.
