Bug Description
Binary package hint: compiz
The update today to compiz (1:0.9.
Previous to the update unity and compiz worked fine, imediatly after the compiz update a login produces no unity laucher, menu bar and a spinning cursor.
This behavior was seen previously just prior to the 000_workaround_
have commented here as seen from a one month old desktop install
https:/
Atm am reporting from a fresh install on different hardware - exact same results
Method
Fresh install from today's iso
logged in to desktop - installed video drivers (nvidia-current)
logged back in to Desktop Edition - everything fine
Installed all available updates from update manager except the compiz updates
rebooted - all is fine
installed compiz updates, restarted - unity fails to load ect., as described above.
At no time could I ever duplicate the bug report that lead to the removal of the 000 .. patch
(unless the reporter there meant his context menus where behind windows - if so one needs to enable the "put" plugin in compiz

Disregard about the 'put' plugin - was filing the above while in that 'halfway' state and it seemed to bring context menus to the front.
Have now reverted to the 0ubuntu3 compiz and see it didn't matter ( and every thing is working fine again in the Desktop Edition w/ unity and compiz
