"lightbox-style" big overlay of numbers...

Hi there,

I like to suggest the addition of a "lightbox-style" overlay for telephone numbers etc. Like the OSX-adressbook. If you mouse over a number and make a right-click you can turn on an big overlay of that number. Comes in very handy if you have to dial a number on a phone a few metres away. Small details but impresses everyone I show that feature.

OK I have a prototype working and it can be seen in the attached screencast.

I can begin integrating this into Dexter.

Is the look of this okay? How should it be activated, just on hover as the poster suggests?

to clearify what I meant considering the activation: if you hover over an adress, than make a right- or left mouseclick there could be an option to activate the overlay. Or if you hover the adress/number there is a little icon and if you click on that one, it activates the overlay.

I think activation as soon as you just hover over the numbers could be a bit confusing.

I attached a screenshot of the (german) osx feature.

Hey, that looks really nice! Like Aurel said, I'm not sure it should be on hover. But having it in the context menu would be pretty slick ;)

I think a context menu is the way to go and so I shall try to get this working :)

in case that a context menu hides that function too much, you could maybe integrate an icon like the one I put in the screenshot.
What do you think?

Aurel, I think the problem with that is that if we wanted to provide this feature for any piece of contact data (emails, addresses, etc) that it would get very noisy. Having the option in the context menu is a good way to make it available to all fields and not create visual noise.
