Amarok tooltips are just black boxes

Binary package hint: amarok

I am on GNOME and I am trying to use Amarok but the tool tips are just black boxes. Many other people (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=10186430) have encountered this problem with no solution in sight.
