Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

After updating to 10.10 the update-manager's "Install Update" button does nothing. After clicking it the application stays busy for a second or two with the button being pushed in and then it goes back to the previous state. There's no output neither on stderr nor on stdout. Installing updates using `aptitude upgrade` works without any problems.

Thanks for taking the time to help us improve Ubuntu. Does this happen all the time? Does clicking Check, waiting for the package infos to download and clicking Install again after this solve the problem (do the updates install)?

Yes, it happens all the time. No, it doesn't help. Symptoms are exactly the same as those I described above. No updates are installed.

If you hit the "Check" button first, wait for it to complete, and then hit the "Install Updates", does it work then? If so, this is a duplicate of bug #414181.
