Bug Description

reported from nat:

Hi Nat,

This is where I'm a bit confused... There's embed code already on the page, which should just auto-update with the new listing know that I've added it in Kaltura, but right now no player shows on the page so I can't tell whether it's the right code or not (even though there is a player slot showing up in the "edit" page). This is the currently embedded code:

<object width="560" height="320">

<param name="allowFullScreen" value="true">

<param name="allowNetworking" value="all">

<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always">

<param name="bgcolor" value="#000000">

<param name="flashVars" value="playlistAPI.autoContinue=true&amp;playlistAPI.autoInsert=true&amp;playlistAPI.kpl0Name=All Staff Audio&amp;playlistAPI.kpl0Url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.kaltura.com%2Findex.php%2Fpartnerservices2%2Fexecuteplaylist%3Fuid%3D%26partner_id%3D333261%26subp_id%3D33326100%26format%3D8%26ks%3D%7Bks%7D%26playlist_id%3D1_76k9r9zd&amp;">

<param name="movie" value="http://www.kaltura.com/index.php/kwidget/cache_st/1279901017/wid/_333261/uiconf_id/1904891"><a></a>

</object>

But when I go into Kaltura to get new code, using the "audio playlist" player which I recall is the correct one (there is no "Karl Player" option I'm afraid), the new code is:

<object id="kaltura_player" name="kaltura_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowNetworking="all" allowScriptAccess="always" height="320" width="560" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/searchmonkey/media/" rel="media:video" resource="http://www.kaltura.com/index.php/kwidget/cache_st/1290006719/wid/_333261/uiconf_id/1904891" data="http://www.kaltura.com/index.php/kwidget/cache_st/1290006719/wid/_333261/uiconf_id/1904891"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowNetworking" value="all" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#000000" /><param name="flashVars" value="playlistAPI.autoInsert=true&playlistAPI.kpl0Name=All Staff Audio&playlistAPI.kpl0Url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.kaltura.com%2Findex.php%2Fpartnerservices2%2Fexecuteplaylist%3Fuid%3D%26partner_id%3D333261%26subp_id%3D33326100%26format%3D8%26ks%3D%7Bks%7D%26playlist_id%3D1_76k9r9zd&" /><param na
me="movie" value="http://www.kaltura.com/index.php/kwidget/cache_st/1290006719/wid/_333261/uiconf_id/1904891" /><a href="http://corp.kaltura.com">video platform</a> <a href="http://corp.kaltura.com/video_platform/video_management">video management</a> <a href="http://corp.kaltura.com/solutions/video_solution">video solutions</a> <a href="http://corp.kaltura.com/video_platform/video_publishing">video player</a> {SEO} </object>

Embedding this also on the page doesn't work either (except oddly, some random-seeming links get displayed). If I embed this code on a plain notepad page, however, the right player gets displayed, so I think this is ultimately the right code to be using...

Tested this several times and it appears to be happening just as Nat stated. When I go back and run the test with the embedded code we used to clear the original bug it still works. I am not up enough on the code but appears to be in the embedded code itself.

Hi Guys,

We can close this one - Jonathan was able to tweak the code and the Kaltura player is working now.

Thanks,
Nat

Jonathan, can you get an exact description on how you were able to tweak the code to make it work?

The code we have in now allows that we can manipulate "bad cases" into working ones. If you think this is a "bad code" that we have a chance to encounter in the future, the code in karl could be modified to "autofix" such bad cases, providing we get an exact recipee on what needs to be done with the markup.
