Bug Description

Using the git master d09f098c4fdc732a6aa78ba7a41e7fac07b2b7c4 as checked in 20101101
The password request popup shows up multiple times (minimum 3* ) every time thunderbird starts even when the password is saved.
The check-box to save password get repeatedly unchecked, but no need to enter the password, as pressing "OK" continues - the password is available. Guess the auth-logic fails now to detect a stored password.

Yes, that might be connected to the new connection code. The problem with the password dialog is that I'm having trouble retrieving the password the next time thunderbird starts. I'm aware of the problem, but I'm not exactly sure what to do to prevent this.

pretty much the same as reported under:

Could probably be marked as duplicate.

I never ran into this using 0.11, but after the upgrade (meeting invite fix) all the users have started asking about this and why it is asking them 3 or 4 times to enter their password even though the "remember password" option is checked.

Has something changed between the two version?

I started to see this after the 0.12 upgrade as well.

Ok, I got more information about this: This is an artifact of the new parallel network fetch and retry code. This will need some rearchitecting to get rid of. I welcome every helping hand.

Hi, just wanted to let you know I have the same problem, however in my case the login window always appear five times. I am also using version 0.12, but haven't used the previous versions, so can't say if it used to work.
Would be great to get a fix for this, but I understand that it's a pain to rearchitechture.

I get this but it asks for my password seemingly every time it connects to the Exchange server. Usually this translates to many dozens of password prompts. I've never actually reached the end, I hit cancel eventually. Also, it resends a bunch of old meeting requests if I hit OK on those prompts. This hasn't made me any friends. :) Nonetheless I love the idea of this software and would love to get it working.

I can confirm that if you prepend the domain to the beginning of the URL, the prompts disappear!

i.e.

 https://DOMAIN\<email address hidden>/EWS/Exchange.asmx

Sven, I tried with and without the domain name and the many prompts appear regardless. Thanks though!

As a note, one of the things I did to get the 0.12 release to work with our Exchange implementation, but the 0.13 seems to have an issue with is:
https://<user email address>@<Exchange Server Hostname>.<AD Domain>.<network domain>/EWS/Exchange.asmx

So, as an example, John Smith works at Example.com. His Exchange Server's hostname is exchsvr1 and the Active Directory domain name is workgroup. His email address is <email address hidden>. So, with this, the URL to use to set him up is:
https://<email address hidden>@exchsvr1.workgroup.example.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx

Now, if your network admin doesn't have and/or won't put an entry in your DNS tables for the exchange server like that, you can put an entry into your /etc/hosts file.

HTH.

BK, I think the workgroup will have to be configured differently: if the username is jsmith, try https://workgroup\<email address hidden>/EWS/Exchange.asmx.

Ideally we'd change the calendar setup so that people can enter their domains and usernames separately and not mangled into some URI. Maybe somebody wants to work on that?

Yes, that worked... on the 0.14 release. :) Thanks!

If I get any time to myself relatively soon, I'll try to give a hand on the Calendar Setup UI.

Thanks again and keep up the good work!
