Bug Description

This is a feature request.

I share Ubuntu One with a computer that has at most 4GB of disk (it's an older Asus Eee PC). I'd like to use Ubuntu One to sync files that are larger than the small space of that machine. Unfortunately, it appears that's an all-or-nothing prospect, as the only options I have for file syncing exclusion are with choosing whether to sync the music library or not.

I'd like to have certain folders marked as not being synced with particular machines. That would help me with the usability of Ubuntu One, and would prompt me to move past the basic storage allotment.

Thanks!

Hello!

This feature is already available, and will be improved for the next release. What you can do today, in maverick:

* create user defined folders from nautilus, you can click on the ribbon to start or stop synchronizing a folder within your home directory.

* If you don't want a folder to be automatically synchronized in your other computer, be sure that you have the "autosubscribe" option set to False in the config file. To do so, edit the file ~/.config/ubuntuone/syncdaemon.conf and check you have the following:

[__main__]
udf_autosubscribe = False

In the next release the autosubscribe option will be False by default.

I'm closing this as invalid since the functionality is already provided.

Ah, very cool. I'll check that out.

I'm hoping that in the future that this gets added to the interface somehow so it's more plain what's going on. Also, wouldn't it break functionality if folders weren't subscribed to by default, or am I off in my understanding of what's happening here?

Thanks!

Those two features are already scheduled for next cycle, you can see https://blueprints.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/other-ubuntuone-n-shares-status-udfs
