A little more information.

I have another computer that does work. I copied the configuration file to the computer that does not work, changing directories.

1 .- Gmameui modify the file at startup, letting it default.
2 .- I have modified again the file, now not allowing the write. Gmameui simply ignores the changes.

Regards.

Same thing over here. Is there an editable config file that will get around this, cuz I can't find one. Other than that the program works perfectly, just can't add scanlines :(-

Same here, on Ubuntu 10.10 32bit.

Has anyone found a workaround?

OK, the bug seems to be fixed in the CSV:

sudo apt-get install cvs build-essential intltool automake libarchive-dev libexpat-dev libgtk2.0-dev libglade2-dev libgnome2-dev libvte-dev libgtkimageview-dev
mkdir temp
cd temp
cvs -d:pserver:<email address hidden>:/cvsroot/gmameui login
cvs -z3 -d:pserver:<email address hidden>:/cvsroot/gmameui co .
cat INSTALL #Read this!
sh autogen.sh
./configure
make
sudo make install

Same here with XUbuntu 10.10

And the build doesn't work either. Seems like the "intl" directory is missing.

For me worked editing the file /home/username/.config/gmameui, adding there lines (for titles ans snaps):

dir-title=/usr/local/share/games/mame/titles
dir-snapshot=/usr/local/share/games/mame/snaps

You DO NOT have to put the final ";"

The buttons to add directories are still unresponsive in and updated natty 11.04 clean install. Any chance the CSV build or later stable will be SRU?

Hard to believe that the gmameui package, in this inconsistent (broken functionality, missing UI icons) state, made it into the release! Never an issue with any previous releases.

You tip helped me - configuring the .../.config/gmameui.ini (without ";" at the end)

Ubuntu 12.04 and still here. If I take out the ; in the config file (which now is in .config/gmameui/gmameui.ini as soon as I launch GMAMEUI it reverts back to the ; terminated one (only on the samples directory)

I confirmed again this still happens in 12.04. gmameui is no longer supported in 12.04, so if you want to install gmameui in 12.04 you need a 1-liner change. I posted a ppa for that but this problem remains.
