This bug is affecting me as well. But not even as a result of rapidly changing tabs/pages. It simply happens, even when switching pages slowly.

Find attached a screenshot. As you can see, I've navigated to Google, but it still shows Yahoo! in the window title.

I've noticed if I switch to another window, then Firefox seems to update its window title to reflect the current loaded page.

I've just tried running Firefox with -safe-mode . This bug is still occurring, so it can't be an add-on causing the problem.

Should this problem be reported upstream to Mozilla? Unless it's a problem with the window manager/Compiz. However, Nautilus, for example, doesn't seem to have this problem.

Also, I'm happy to provide any debug info if required.

This problem could be affecting other people who simply haven't noticed - it's quite easy to miss.

Also just to confirm this is with:

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2.12) Gecko/20101027 Ubuntu/10.10 (maverick) Firefox/3.6.12

This is likely to be a window manager or toolkit issue. I've seen this with firefox, gnome-terminal, nautilus, gedit and other applications

affects: firefox (Ubuntu) → compiz (Ubuntu)

Yes, I can confirm I'm also experiencing this problem with gnome-terminal:

1. Open gnome-terminal (defaults to home directory). Title is: Terminal
2. cd Public Title is now: user@machinename: ~
3. cd ../ Title is now: user@machinename: ~/Public

- so it's one step behind.

Similar issue with gedit and switching tabs between documents - always one step behind. Switching to another window (Alt+Tab) and then back updates the title.

Any ideas what is causing this bug? Is it only affecting some users? I'd be interested to know what's causing it.
