Curiously I tried running the post installation script ( /var/lib/dpkg/info/apache2.2-common.postinst ) by hand and it returns 0 rather than 1 i.e. no error

Also, marked as a security error not because I found a dangerous bug but I figure not being able to update ones apache could well prove to be security problem on a productions server, sorry if that's incorrect!

Cheers,

Roger.

Hi r0g, thanks for taking the time to file this bug report and help us make Ubuntu better.

The relevant failure from DpkgTerminaLog.txt is:

Setting up apache2.2-common (2.2.14-5ubuntu8.2) ...
ERROR: Module reqtimeout does not exist!

This issue has come up before, and its likely you have a problem with a config file missing.

Can you please verify that /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/reqtimeout.load points to a real file that loads that module? It should look something like this:

LoadModule reqtimeout_module /usr/lib/apache2/modules/mod_reqtimeout.so

And also check that /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/reqtimeout.conf has content in it to configure that module.

If the .conf file is there, but the .load file is not, that is your problem. You will need to re-create the file in /etc/apache2/mods-available and then run 'sudo a2enmod reqtimeout'. A simpler solution, if you don't want request timeouts, is to just run 'sudo a2dismod reqtimeout'.

Marking Incomplete pending response from r0g.

Hi Clint,

Actually I think we can close this one, the last batch of updates I got (bout a week ago) seemed to have fixed it. For the record I never had (or had heard of) reqtimeout so the problem definitely wasn't with it's config files, it must have been somewhere else.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Regards,

Roger.
