Bug Description

In 0.10.4 starting Stellarium consistently ended in partly no graphic background to be drawn. This has been reported and should have been solved in 0.10.5.
I now installed 0.10.5 but the same error still exists. The only two sceneries that are shown correctly are Mars and Moon, all others are garbled, which is also true in the slideshow. Using the workaround to start Stellarium with an extra shellscript with "LC_NUMERIC=C stellarium" does work.

The logs I submitted are wthout the shellscript: log.txt and with use of the script log_w_script.txt

The OS I use is Ubuntu 10.04_AMD64
Kernel 2.30.2 (Ubuntu 2010-06-25)
2.6.32-25-generic (#44-Ubuntu SMP Fri Sep 17 20:05:27 UTC 2010)

The Graphics card used is NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS VBIOS Version: 05.73.22.54.00 Memory: 512 MB, NVIDIA Driver Version: 195.36.24 GPU: 400 MHz

I tried this now with a 32 bit Lucid, same result. Graphics card used:
NVIDIA UNIX x86 Kernel Module 195.36.24 Thu Apr 22 09:18:20 PDT 2010
GeForce 6200/512MB/AGP8X/350MHz and AMD Athlon64 3000+
On a somewahat older Dell PC with P4 cpu, same problem.
Shellscript still solves.
Ubuntu repo for Lucid still holds 0.10.4 is this policy not to update the repo for an LTS version?

I can't replicate it on 10.10 with 0.10.5, but I have a different video, so i don't know if that is the cause of my failure to fail.

I've committed something that I hope will fix the problem:

I'm waiting for confirmation from our testers. I may upload a new build to the test packages PPA later this week.

Hi Markus,
It must have something to do with previously installed versions. I tried this in a fresh install in Maverick and used the Stellarium PPA to download and install the latest 0.10.6 version on a netbook (Samsung N210) and that works without the startup script. Same on a new desktop with Maverick and the videocard I have used before also runs Stellarium correct without the script. Did you try a fresh install of Natty or an upgrade? On my currently used system Lucid with 0.10.6 the script is also still needed.
Regards,
Peter

If I look in the Software centre of Natty on my netbook (Samsung N210) it says 0.10.6.0 and that is not the old one... When I upgraded to Natty it turned off the ppa but Stellarium was already installed. Only the centre stated Stellarium for Maverick. After checking the ppa again I was offered to install two updates, downloaded 36.4 MB, it installed and I ran Stellarium again. It still states 0.10.6 (In Windows I have 0.10.6.1) in the splash screen but it works (as far as I can see) flawlessly in Natty.

Best regards,
Peter
