gnome-system-log should store the viewed files between sessions

Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-utils

The /apps/gnome-system-log/logfile GConf key's value is used as first logfile to display. It would be good if gnome-system-log stored active (selected) logfile in that key. Auto-saving of last open logfile could work in that way too.

Thanks for the report, it has been some time without any response or feedback in this bug report and we are wondering if this is still an issue for you with the latest release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal, May you please test with that version and comment back if you're still having or not the issue? Please have a look at http://www.ubuntu.com/download to know how to install that version. Thanks in advance and sorry for the late response.

Hey, what kind of information do you need to fix that?

My actions:
1. Launch gnome-system-log, it opens the `messages` log.
2. Select `syslog` in the panel on the left.
3. Close gnome-system-log.
4. Open gnome-system-log again, watch it opens `messages` again.

Expected result:
4. It remembers last open log and shows `syslog`.

I'm suggesting that the last open log should be saved on exit to the '/apps/gnome-system-log/logfile' GConf key.

gnome-system-log stopped using gconf and use gsettings so the technical description was confusing, better to simply describe the behaviour you would like to get there ;-)

summary: - gnome-system-log doesn't store /apps/gnome-system-log/logfile GConf key
+ gnome-system-log should store the viewed files between sessions
