These errors makes boot time very long.

Perhaps this is not an important problem to you but it is quite important to me. I am setting
up an Acer 630 notebook and I need sound.

If you don't have time to find and fix the problem could you at least give a workaround?
Like how and where do you use force_addr and what address should I use?

Appreciate

From http://www.lm-sensors.org/wiki/FAQ/Chapter3#Dmesgsaysuseforce_addr0xaddrWhataddressdoIuse

$ modprobe i2c-ali15x3 force_addr=0xf000

I tried that but i don't get any feedback. (KMix has no mixers and i don't have speakers on this machine.)

http://lists.lm-sensors.org/pipermail/lm-sensors/2002-July/000803.html seems to suggest hardcoding the address in the source.

I ran "apt-get install sensord" but don't feel like rebooting.

Is http://www.lm-sensors.org/log/lm-sensors/trunk/kernel/busses/i2c-ali15x3.c the code used? Last change was at 10/30/05 11:02:58. http://www.lm-sensors.org/search?q=ali15x3&noquickjump=1 has more info about it. Still, the no sound problem reportedly started on Edgy.

It unfortunately appears that this bug is not yet resolved. Does this issue still exist in the Hardy Heron 8.04 LTS release? If so, the Intrepid Ibex 8.10 Alpha2 is also scheduled for release today. It will appear at the following when available: http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/intrepid/alpha2 . It contains the actively developed 2.6.26 Ubuntu kernel. It would be great if you could test this upcoming release via a LiveCD and verify if the issue still exists. If so, please include the appropriate debugging information as outlined at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems . Thanks in advance.

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux-image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and test.

--or--

2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4. Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced. You should then be able to test via a LiveCD.

Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the 2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26 kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback.

nature to do so.. Thanks for the Mail...
But I have a question, is Intrepid going to include the OpenSourse drivers
from the Ralink Wireless Lan Moduls like the rt2860sta?? I am asking cause
feature freez is comming and this modul is still missing..
Thanks
