Hello,

Thanks for your quick update, but you set the status as "Invalid" without any reason, can you explain why it's invalid please ?

May be my report is not filled correctly ? or it's already implemented ? or I have not explained it correctly ? or may be you don't see why this request feature is usefull ? or may be you don't want to add this ?

I'll try to be explain better this feature :

In the menu "Edit" / "Preferences" / "Sounds", we can set sounds notifications on multiples events, like for example "Message received".

I doesn't active the "Message received" sound notification because, for me, it's boring to listen this sound for every new message.

Sometimes, when you talk and doing others things at the same time (surf on the web, looking video in full screen etc...) you doesn't see the Empathy status icon notification, and so you can skip an important message to read.

This is why I proposed this request, to create a new event like "Message unread since 1 minute".
Like that, if there is a new message still not read (focus on the tab) after 1 minute, a sound is played to alert me, and I'll never skip again an important message.

In a better way, this could be named "Forgotten message" in the "Play sound for events" list, with and a new option in the "Notifications" tab like "A message is considered forgotten after [ 60 ] seconds", where the time should be customised.

I hope it's better explained ! :-)

Thanks !

Best regards

yeah, this would be quite cool, but only when set to "available" or in "auto-away".
in "busy" i wouldn't want to hear any such noise.

the sound would have to be very subtle, a small short informative sound, perhaps with some reverb, to indicate that it is actually an echo of the original audio notification 1 minute ago

Launchpad Janitor acting on this is kinda like a timeout on it.
No worries, i already set it back to "Opinion", so it's no longer set to
"expired".
I know that in order to make this feature, another bug has to be fixed
first:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/notify-osd/+bug/549900
That is wanted and underway, as there already is a patch, made by Dylan
McCall
https://code.edge.launchpad.net/~dylanmccall/notify-osd/sounds-support
is ready for review aiui
