According to the buildlog, http:// launchpadlibrar ian.net/ 56984910/ buildlog_ ubuntu- maverick- amd64.wine1. 2_1.2-0ubuntu9_ BUILDING. txt.gz, Wine was built with OpenGL support just fine, so there must be something wrong with the underlying libs.
Possibly fixable with just an ia32-libs update.
