Bug Description

Ubuntu 10.10 64bits does not recognize processor correctly with chipset P55!

I've tested two motherboards: Intel P55KG Extreme and Gigabyte P55 UD3P, same problem occurs with both motherboards!

Intel Core i7 860!

Just one core is shown!

Ok! Sorry for taking so long to an answer!

The system Hangs one by one application that is oppend until the role system freezes! And i can see that windows borders from gnome/metacity have renderization erros too! For both motherboards Intel P55KG Extreme and Gigabyte P55-UD3P, the errors are the same! Both of than with P55 chipset! I have used the same processor! Intel Core i7 860! Ubuntu 10.04.1 64bits works very well in same configuration!

That's it folks! I'm sorry about my bad english! If you need any more information, please just ask!

Marcelo A. S. Pugliesi, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux <replace-with-bug-number>

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

Download full text (3.6 KiB)

Hello, unfortunately I do not have boards from Asus and Gigabyte with
P55 chipset
anymore. But with my current board from Asus P8P67-PRO, everything runs
fine. The Core i7 2600k is correctly recognized.
Bye!
