1. Install Polly from its PPA. <https://launchpad.net/~conscioususer/+archive/polly-daily>
2. Wait until the PPA appears in the "All Software" menu (bug 782953).
3. Click "All Software".
4. Search for "polly".
5. Click "Installed".
6. Search for "polly".

What happens:
4. Polly appears as a search result, with the emblem showing that it is installed.
6. Polly does not appear.

What should happen:
6. Polly appears.

deadbeef isn't available for Oneiric at the moment, so I'm updating this with a package that is.

This bug *might* be happening because the "Installed" screen is categorized, and the PPA package isn't being put in a category. Or it might be caused by something else.

The root cause is that applications with .desktop files in /usr/share/applications are treated as packages. They will show up when clicking on "Show all technical items" link.

Hi Łukasz. Ah, sounds like you've gotten to the root of it. Yes, non-application items will not be shown by default unless the "Show N Technical Items" like is clicked. We have recently fixed a bug where this link does not look "clickable" in Precise, so this problem will hopefully be further mitigated.

I'll close this as invalid then.

Thanks, everyone!
