this bug is known upstream and will be fixed soon. if you want to add a google talk account the workaround is to add talk.google.com to server when adding a gtalk account in empathy

Okay I'm still getting this issue? Is it in the upstream, but the update just hasn't been pushed out to the end users yet?

New bug? It's THIS EXACT BUG.... it's not a new bug... it's THIS EXACT BUG...

Don't hate on me for getting this exact bug in Maverick... maybe it's GASP reoccuring and not 110% fixed for everyone all the time?

this is not an ordinary bug, it was a special one and the cause was that empathy was not adding talk.google.com to the server field when creating a new account. *this problem is fixed*
