Bug Description

Binary package hint: banshee

As of Banshee 1.6.1 and Ubuntu Lucid, media files in Google's WebM format are not recognized and cannot be imported. This is true regardless of whether GStreamer support for vp8 has been installed. The file extension is not recognized as a supported video file format. Is this trivial to fix, or is the list of recognized extensions hardcoded into the binary?

is it possible if you can try to reproduce this issue with Banshee 1.8.0 and check if this behaviour is still occurring? Thanks in advance.

There's a different issue with Banshee 1.8.0 on Ubuntu Maverick. The '.webm' file extension is recognized and WebM files are imported into the library. They are, however, imported into the music library instead of the video library. Consequently, Banshee plays only the audio track, not the video track.

Should I open a new bug report for this?
