I am the maintainer for SDL Perl. We have had several new releases with a complete re write. This will break backwards compatibility but we have also port Frozen-Bubble to the new SDL Perl. Here is the CHANGELOG of SDL Perl, as you can see we have had many significant changes and fixes.
