Bug Description

Hi All,

I just had a moderator in a community unselect a tool (in this case the
wiki) from the overview page. The user then tried to turn the tool back
on and discovered all the content was gone. Luckily I was able to
retrieve the missing wiki content from a staging site, but I think we
need some sort of warning for users when they unselect tools on the
Overview page: "WARNING: By turning off this tool, you will permanently
lose all existing content." Or something like that.

Thanks,

Nat

Is this bug also considering e-mail alerts to be a community tool thus warning loss of content if you don't alert the community with an e-mail?

Email alerts are outgoing mail generated by other kinds of content. They aren't content themselves in the database.

Here is a way to test if the change meets what Nat asked for:

1) Create a community.

2) Add some blog entries.

3) Go to the Edit Community screen.

4) Ensure that, when selected that tool to disable, a warning is displayed.

I just gave it a try on the trunk (running locally) and it worked as Nat asked.

Paul,

I did that. It appears to work fine except we get the same warning for send-alert on e-mails.

"Edit Community" doesn't have an option to send email alert.

The edit community is working correctly, BUT

when you have an item like blog, and you turn off e-mail alerts, you get the warning for the community is going to loose data for this tool.

Paul,

The problem is the warning message that has been set up for de-seleting a tool also appears when you deselect e-mail alerts on blog entries, calendars, files, etc. in error.
