Bug Description

Youtube videos are purple instead of their normal colors.

I've had this in the past with totem (gstreamer) too, I could adjust them with Brightness and Contrast sliders. with lightspark this is not possible (and nowadays they are on the default value in gstreamer/totem, so it should not need adjustments)

I'm using it on an intel graphics card (intel 950 mobile), and I'm using the xorg-edgers ppa xorg-drivers (this maybe part of the cause).

Attached are screenshots of the same video in adobe flash and lightspark (0.4.4)

(Note that the controls are still all wrong... in lightspark)

Does this happen on any video?

It seems to happen to every tested video. Although while I was testing I got other crashes. One of them crashed in the /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so, so I will not report them (unless you think it will be usefull), because I suspect my not-very-stable intel xorg-drivers.

(As reported earlier, the purple rendering can also be caused by these drivers, but other opengl and/or video programs do not have it).

could you pass me a link to a video that shows the effect prominently?

Hi,
I've the same problem with 0.4.4. It does however affect only videos rendered by Lightspark and not the ones displayed while falling back to Gnash. All videos using the newest player on YouTube are rendered pink.
I'm also using the drivers from xorg-edgers. My card is an ATI Radeon Xpress 1100.

Sure. Please find a screenshot of this video attached. Thanks for your efforts !

I strongly suggest this to be related to unstable X packages. I used ppa-purge to downgrade all packages from Xorg-edgers to Lucid main repos and the colors were then normal on Youtube.

Changed in lightspark:
status: New → Invalid

I see the same on Ubuntu 10.10 beta, fully updated today - no exotic ppas, only security and standard updates from Canonical.

Also, controls don't work, on any video.

I can't help about the pink rendering, maybe Alessandro can help you further.
You are 100% sure though that you are using the latest stable drivers?

The color space conversion is done using shaders, as the same code works here and other machine i'm pretty much sure this is a driver issue.

The issue is definitely caused by incorrect handling of shaders by the graphics driver. What is your video card/video driver?

The colors are normal with the nVidia driver (version 260.19.21). I'll file a bug to Mesa later. Sorry for the noise.

I have the same problem on Ubuntu 10.10 on Asus EEE PC laptop 1001px

Inside Firefox, videos are purple, there is Flash Player 10,2,152,27 installed, inside Chrome videos are normally coloured with Flash Player 10,2,154,12 installed.

Maybe this is just Flash Player bug?

My previous comment was wrong. It is happening randomly. Sometimes it is ok, sometimes it is wrong. Regardless flash player version or browser. Sometimes it is ok in one window and in another window it is purple.

Resetting the bug status as it seems to have been left in "invalid" state when reassigned from lightspark → mesa

I'm experiencing this issue on one of my computers running ubuntu 10.10 with an ATI M24GL [Mobility FireGL V3200] with the open source drivers. It used to work until recently, as if maverick-updates or maverick-security broke it...

Changed in mesa:
status: Invalid → New
