Bug Description

Binary package hint: kate

The Icons in the maintoolbar in Kate rearrarange themselves when opening Kate in a new session with files.

This is reproducible, and the Icons always appear to rearrange themselves in a fixed position after a while (although I don't know where this position is defined...).

A picture showing the rearrangement is attached.

Kate version: 3.5.0

Hi there!

Thanks for reporting this bug! Your bug seems to be a problem with the KDE program itself, and not with our KDE packages. But don't worry! This issue is being tracked by the KDE developers at: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=253190
Once fixed in KDE, it will be included in Kubuntu once the KDE version the fix is in in reaches Kubuntu.

Thanks!

What needs to happen for this bug to be considered confirmed? This bug has been around for a very long time and is easily reproducible.

Dang, I thought I was going crazy, I can confirm this bug exists. I've had it happen with regular files but I can reproduce it consistently by doing the following:

1. Open a "normal" file
2. Open a binary file or something that brings up the "Broken Encoding" dialog (I used a JPEG file)

The icons rearrange themselves for the second file. Clicking back and forth between the two files on the Tab Bar will eventually (after a couple of clicks) result in the icons becoming the same.

Using Kate 3.7.4.

I'm having this same issue. It's very annoying.

KDE 4.7.4 + Kate 3.7.4

Aaand the bug still persists in pangolin, kde 4.8.2, Kate 3.8.2.

Has there been any change whatsoever?

That is a xmlgui problem. Somehow the xmlguiclient don't merge them in the right way.
