Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

This bug is not 100% reproducible, but it appears for me almost all the time I follow the next steps:

1. Use latest Intrepid, with Compiz enabled.
2. Click on System -> Lock Screen.

Expected behavior: The screensaver appears. If you press any key, the Unlock dialog appears asking you for the password.

Actual behavior: The Unlock dialog appears automatically, even if you don't press any key. To show the screensaver, you must to press the Cancel button.

I'm using fully updated Intrepid and an nVIDIA card (using nvidia-glx-177 version 177.76-0ubuntu1).

Hi, what happens if you leave your machine idle until the screensaver activates? Does the screensaver work properly then, or does the desktop immediately re-appear (or the unlock dialog appear, depending on your settings)?

Changed in compiz:
status: New → Incomplete
importance: Undecided → Low

When the screensaver activates due to inactivity, the screen fades to black but the screensaver doesn't appears (it shows the desktop again). When I setup the screensaver for lock the screen when the screensaver activates, then the Unlock dialog appears immediately after the fade to black. In both cases the screensaver is not shown.
