Bug Description

When trying to run obconf, I'm getting this error:

obconf: error while loading shared libraries: libobrender.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I'm using (or trying to use) openbox 3.3-2 and obconf 1.5-3.

SRU proposal (Adrien Cunin):

This bug makes the package completely unusable.
The fix is easy: only a rebuild.
Already fixed in feisty with the build of version 1.6-1.

In Debian, it seems to have been fixed with a newer version, 1.5-4:

http://lists.debian.org/debian-qa-packages/2006/09/msg00060.html

That version isn't available in Edgy yet, though.

Hi. Here's a fix:

$ cd /usr/lib
$ sudo ln -s libobrender.so libobrender.so.1
$ sudo ln -s libobparser.so libobparser.so.1

That's all you need to do.

after consultation with Adri2000 on irc, I was pointed to http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=385464;msg=15, which indicates that a rebuild is enough for fixing this bug.

I think we use the suffix 'build' instead of ubuntu for rebuilds. This would make the version number 1.5.3-build0.1. Since syncs don't matter at this point, I'm of course okay with the current debdiff.

Out of curiosity (since this same version is in all), does this bug strike all released Ubuntu versions?

Three +1, the debdiff will be uploaded ASAP.

Daniel: according to a dapper user, it works. libobrender is in the openbox package, and the version is different between dapper and edgy.

lots of "(obconf:6333): libglade-WARNING **: could not find signal handler 'on_dock_float_y_value_changed'" but it doesn't seem to be a problem.

This does not work, obconf then briefly flashes on and off and there is no way to make it stick.
Which brings me to a new bug all together.
